ABOUT CATSKILL CRAFTSMEN: Catskill Craftsmen is located in Stamford, New York, a small rural village nestled in the northern sections of the Catskill Mountains, at the headwaters of both the Schoharie and Delaware rivers. Our picturesque views are second to none. The area is noted for downhill skiing, prime hunting, and terrific fishing. Stamford is also known as “The Queen of the Catskills”, a name used by thousands of metropolitan New Yorkers, who, at the turning of the 19th to the 20th century, took the long train ride to spend their summers in the cool mountain air.
Catskill Craftsmen began operations in 1948, and has developed over the years, becoming the nation's leading manufacturer of RTA (ready to assemble) hardwood kitchen islands, carts, and work-centers. Our manufactured items are made from naturally self-sustaining, non-endangered North American hardwoods, primarily birch and hard rock maple. Lumber is purchased from area sawmills, then dried, manufactured, and packaged on site. All sawdust, shavings and waste materials generated during the manufacturing process is converted into wood pellet fuel, and used to heat homes. We are proud to say, “our operations generate no wood waste”.

- Catskill's latest island is a beautiful, rugged, traditionally styled piece of kitchen furniture that incorporates many of the features requested by discriminating buyers. As an island, the large 34" x 18" top provides ample working space for most food preparation projects, or enough space for a microwave plus a working area. An open shelf with access from all four sides is the ideal place for frequently used pots, pans, or containers. An enclosed cabinet lets you store small electric appliances. Shelves on both ends are perfect for spices and condiments. Use the large drawer for gadgets. Handles/towel bars are located on both ends. Heavy-duty casters allow you to move this island with ease. This island can and will be used for a myriad of uses such as a TV stand with VCR on the shelf, etc. Assembly is easy with common household tools. This unit utilizes the latest RTA hidden fastener system. Oil finish contains only FDA approved ingredients.
